Yukon /ˈjuːkɒn/ or The Yukon is the westernmost and smallest of Canada's three federal territories. It was named after the Yukon River, Yukon meaning "Great River" in Gwich'in. The capital, Whitehorse, is also the largest city, with about two-thirds of the population; the second largest is Dawson, (pop. 1,250) which was the capital until 1952.
